Herbaceous annual simple tendril vine to 3m, climbing or creeping with angled scabrid stems, unisexual 30mm yellow flowers solitary or in axillary fascicles, hispid calyx, ovary with stiff prickles, berryt to 100mm long, ovoid, pale green aging cream with spiny protuberances, leaves scabrid above, scabrid & hispidulous beneath to 100mm long with 5-7 lobes
