Simple-tendril slender monoecious prostrate or climbing herb with hairy leaves, glabrous stems, monoecious, small greenish-yellow male flowers in corymbs or umbels, female flowers usually solitary, scarlet beaked fruit to 20mm long, green at each end, beak to 2/3 length, large turnip-shaped tuberous roots, 3-5 lobed leaves 100mm diameter scabrid both surfaces
