Semi-herbaceous shrub with long straggling climbing shoots, glabrous leaves to 100mm long with minute white dots above, base of petiole forming short strong spine, flowers in terminal racemes, pinkish-red or whitish with brick red anthers, calyx tube to 6mm long, calyx limb to 12mm long inflated at base, petals fringed with minute hairs
