Twining woody glabrous liana or tree with scrambling branches, young branches ferruginous-puberulent or glabrous, tendrils. Coriaceous leaves to 220mm long, glabrous above & pilose beneath. 1-3 flowered racemes of whitish flowers to 3mm wide, 5mm long, tube 0.5mm, in axillary & terminal racemes to 125mm long, prominent unpleasant smell, brown-pubescent when young. Green fruit turning purple-black to 10mm x 7mm
