Simple-tendril perennial mostly glabrous climber with angular grooved stems to 9m. 3-5 lobed leaves scabrous above to 95mm x 125mm with dentate margins, pustulate above, glabrous beneath may have bracts to 1mm, toothed waved lobes . 30mm cream flowers with yellow center, male flowers solitary or in racemes , may have bracts to 1mm, calyx lobes to 3mm, pale yellow corolla to 22mm long with lobes to 12mm, solitary female flowers similar to male. Orange-red fruit to 90mm x 40mm.
