Tall herbaceous perennial climber to 20m with grooved hairy to glabrous stems, simple or bifid tendrils. 3-5 lobed leaves to 165mm x 165mm with denticulate to serrate margins, bracts to 3.5mm, simple or bifid tendrils. Flowers bright yellow, male flowers in racemes up to 34mm with bracts to 1mm, calyx lobes to 2.5mm, orange corolla to 29mm long with lobes to 10mm, solitary female flowers similar to male. 200mm long banana shaped pale green fruit ripening red dotted white turning red on maturity to 200mm x 50mm.
