Tall herbaceous perennial 1-3 branched tendril climber or trailer to 10m with glabrous or puberulous stems. Toothed variable leaves 3-5-lobed or angled to 200mm x 230mm, upper surface with white papillae, lower surface glabrous or puberulous with bracts to 5mm long. yellow-Orange flowers, axillary male flowers in racemes, flowers with or without bracts to 1.5mm long, calyx lobes to 2.5mm long, coriaceous orange-yellow 5-lobed corolla to 24mm long x 12mm with lobes to 10mm, solitary female or in panicles with bracteoles at base, calyx tube to 4mm long. Green fruits with white or yellow spots, turning dull red with longitudinal green bands, to 25mm x 15mm.
