Twining slightly woody evergreen climber to 4.5m with glabrous branchlets, glabrous leaves to 150mm long. Axillary cymes or panicles of 25mm red flowers with white puberulent calyx 25mm long sometimes red, aging purple, light crimson corolla, tube 25mm long with lobes to 6mm long, puberulent leaves
