Climbing or erect shrub or tree to 3m with pubescent branches. Toothed hairy coriaceous mucronate leaves or scabrous above pubescent beneath to 480mm x 450mm. Terminal cymes or panicles to 120mm long, flowers with pubescent red-violet or purple bracts to 18mm x 3mm, 5-parted red-violet or purple pubescent calyx 25mm long, densely pubescent white to yellowish corolla to 200mm long with curved tube 150mm long & lobes to 20mm long. Black edible fruit.
