Subshrub, shrub, tree or liana to 4m with ant-friendly branches with spines. Glabrous leaves to 300mm x 140mm. Cauline or terminal umbels with bracts & bractlets to 3mm long, bracts often violet coloured. Green, rose or violet 5-parted flower calyx to 25mm long with lobes 7mm long, white or cream corolla with tube to 170mm long & 5 lobes.
