Terminal few-flowered cymes with minute bracts, tubular red flowers with sweet scent, 5-parted calyx with tube to 5mm long & pilose lobes to 3mm long, pilose white or yellowish corolla with red centre, corolla tube to 16mm long, black fruit, tooth-like spines
