Deciduous herbaceous climber with coriaceous leaflets with tendril-like petioles, 2-3 lobed or entireo 60mm long. 30mm red, scarlet or purple flowers cream or yellow inside, leathery scarlet or purplish-red sepals with recurved tips. Silky achenes to 7mm long with persistent plumose styles to 50mm long.
