Deciduous woody vine or dwarf shrublet (non-climbing when grown in dry regions). Leaves with 5 or more serrate or often trilobed leaflets. Solitary, terminal or axillary cymes to 3 flowers to 75mm diameter, fragrant yellow flowers sometimes tinged purple, tepals to 50mm long, achenes to 4.5mm
