Climbing shrub, subshrub or perennial herb, glabrescent stems, ternate pinnate leaves, 3-lobed leaflets, puberulous glabrescent leaflet blade to 150mm x 140mm, terminal or axillary cymes with bracts to 35mm, white flowers to 15mm diameter, blue to purple sepals to 24mm x 7mm puberulous outside glabrous inside, puberulous achenes to 5mm x 2.8mm with persistent style to 25mm long
