Slender herbaceous glabrous perennial evergreen tendril liana with bifid tendrils, red stems, ridged branchlets. Simple leaves deep green with silver, grey or pink or grey zones between veins, maroon underneath to 150mm x 50mm, toothed margins. Terminal or leaf-opposed corymbs to 20mm across, umbels or panicles of greenish-yellow flowers with red petals, petals to 2.5mm, calyx & petals glabrous, 4 petals 1.5mm long, fruit a blue-black berry to 7mm long x 5mm on red pedicels, dentate mucronate leaves with bristly serratures, furrowed branches
