Large woody perennial evergreen glabrescent tendril liana with bifid-trifid tendrils. Ferrugineus tomentum on leaves, dentate mucronate leaves, glabrescent stems, leaf-opposed umbellate villous corymbs or cymes of pinkish to yellow inconspicuous flowers, 4 villous petals to 1.7mm, fruit a glabrous black berry to 8mm long x 6mm. Branchlets ridged, leaves bristle-toothed, velvety-red beneath
