Herbaceous twining liana to 20m with puberulous stems. 3-5 lobed leaves, scabrous above, glabrous or pubescent beneath to 200mm x 200mm. Simple or bifid pubescent tendrils. Greenish white & green femalee flowers in racemes, with unusual smell, purplish or violet calyx lobes, corolla to 15mm. Staminate flowers in fascicles or racemes, calyx to 10mm long with green tube, fleshy green corolla lobes to 28mm x 13mm. Green fruits aging purple-black to 37mm x 23mm.
