Herbaceous, high-climbing monoecious vine with stout stems. Leaves to 160mm x 150mm with 3-5 lobes, scabrous above & tomentose beneath. Simple or bifid tendrils. Staminate racemes of white nocturnal flowers, calyx tube to 10mm long with lobes to 3mm x 6mm, sepals to 2mm x 2mm, tomentose corolla lobes, petals to 1.8mm x 10mm, smaller greenish-white pistillate flowers in acillary racemes of 1-3 with calyx tube to 5mm long, sepals to 3mm x 1.5mm, petals to 7mm x 3mm. Green fruit turning red & glabrescent to 20mm x 13mm.
