Scandent shrub or epiphytic vine with branches to 2m, angled glabrate stems. Leaf blades 170mm x 85mm, glabrous above, rarely puberulent on veins on both surfaces. Inflorescence of 15-25 flowers with numerous bracts at base. Bright red floral bracts to 65mm x 30mm & purple flowers to 60mm x 35mm, white at base or white stripes, calyx to 15.5mm long, calyx lobes to 5mm x 3mm, corolla to 28mmx 8mm with lobes to 2.5mm long. Purple-red edible berry to 12mm diameter.
