Tree or scandent shrub with large starchy tuber, angular red-brown pubescent stems & tiny lenticels. Leaves to 150mm x 80mm pubescent above & on veins beneath. Pubescent inflorescence with small bracts, greenish flowers or purple outside, green inside, pubescent calyx 4mm diameter with triangular lobes to 1.3mm, strigose petals 4.3mm x 1.9mm. Pubescent olive-green fruit 50mm x 40mm.
