Shrub, sometimes climbing to 3.5m, yellowish-pubescent stems spiny & hairy, hooked spines to 4mm. Glabrescent leaves rusty-tomentose beneath to 150mm x 65mm. Solitary or up to 5 white tinged pale yellow, green or violet flowers with tomentose sepals to 5mm x 4mm, villous petals to 8mm x 4mm. Black berry to 12mm diameter.
