Large woody climber to 2m with hairy purplish twigs armed with recurved thorns. Leaves to 100mm x 50mm. White flowers aging purple to 50mm x 45mm in terminal 6-10 flowered corymbs, sepals 12mm x 8mm, white petals to 225mm x 14mm. Dark purple to violet capsule to 85mm long.
