Glabrous tall climber or shrub, hooked spines to 5mm long. Glabrous coriaceous leaves to 260mm x 140mm. Terminal or lateral panicles or racemes to 500mm long, with bracts. Pale green, white to creamy-yellow, pink or red-brown flowers, 4 sepals, outer sepals coriaceous to 13mm x 8mm, inner sepals to 14mm x 10mm, petals to 35mm x 11mm. Glabrous yellowish-orange fruit 65mm long.
