Prickly scrambling or climbing shrub or woody liane with hooked spines, pubescent branchlets. Leaves glabrous above, glabrate beneath 60mm x 32mm. Fragrant white flowers in umbels or axillary & terminal 4-10 flowered racemes, flower bracts to 1.5mm long, sepals 5mm long, yellow petals 5mm long. Fruit orange or red to 20mm diameter.
