Shrub, erect or climbing or a vine to 3m with purplish branches. Leaves to 100mm x 40mm, hairy beneath, glabrous above with dentate margin. Cymes to 25mm wide with bracts, fragrant flowers with a pink, purplish or white corolla, calyx to 1mm. Yellow-red, purplish-red or purple fruit 2mm diameter.
