Liana to 10m with glabrescent stems. 3 or 5 foliolate leaves to 280mm long, glabrous leaflets to 180mm x 80mm. Terminal panicles to 300mm long of 25mm pale yellow flowers shading to red or purple. Inflated glabrescent legume to 55mm x 40mm with hooked beak.

Stem & root used medicinally, fibres for making rope, seeds edible after stewing.
