Twining subshrub or perennial herb to 1m, with glabrate stems often with peeling bark. Crenate or crenate-dentate leaves to 80mm x 35mm, glabrescent above, pilose on veins beneath. Flowers in terminal corymbs to 10 flowers with bracts & bracteoles, calyx segments to 9mm x 6mm, puberulent corolla white, yellow or orange to 37mm long with the superior lip to 12mm long, lower lip to 30mm x 20mm. Yellow-green capsule to 9mm long.
