Solitary climbing rattan palm with stems to 60m+. Stems sheaths with spines to 40mm x 7mm. Woody leaf sheaths armed with spines to 30mm long, leaves to 4m long including with 1.5m cirrus, about 25 pairs of leaflets, leaflets to 500mm x 70mm with bristly black margins. Inflorescences to about 1m with spiny bracts, rachullae to 150mm long. Female spadix to 150mm long armed with claws. Fruit to 22mm x 18mm with short beak.
