Climber to 10m. Leaf to 4.3m long including cirrus. Leaf sheath with black spines to 25mm x 5mm. Leaf to 3m with triangular spines & grapnel spines, 13-15 bristly leaflets each side, longest to 400mm x 90mm. Staminate inflorescence to 3.8m long, flowers to 4.1mm x 2mm, sweetly scented, calyx 2mm diameter with 3 lobes 1mm x 1.2mm, corolla 3.6mm x 2mm. Pistillate inflorescence similar to staminate with branches to 250mm long with about 25 rachillae to 70mm x 2mm with bracts 1.2mm x 1.7mm, flowers 3.5mm x 2mm, sweetly scented, calyx 2mm diameter with 3 lobes 0.9mm x 1mm, corolla 2.4mm x 1.5mm with 3 lobes 1.2mm x 1mm. Fruit 8mm x 6mm including beak of 1.5mm.
