Clustering climbing rattan palm with scandent stems to 10m, stem sheath to 30mm diameter. Furfuraceous leaf sheath to 30mm with spines to 30mm long, tendril to 700mm long, spiny cirriferous leaves to 2.5m, about 80 leaflets each side, bristly leaflets to 350mm x 16mm. Female spadix to 350mm x 100mm, bract armed with black spines to 35mm long, female flowers to 8mm long. Beaked tawny brown fruit 30mm x 20mm.
