Climber to 2m. Leaf sheaths with spines to 30mm long. Leaves to 3m long, cirrus 1.5m long armed with black-tipped spines, 30 leaflets each side, bristly leaflets to 310mm x 25mm. Inflorescences to 350mm long with bracts to 170mm x 30mm armed with scattered spines. Up to 11 rachillae. Fruits 15mm x 10mm.
