Clustering rattan climbing palm, scandent stems to 20m. Glabrous yellowish floccose leaf sheaths sparing armed with mammiform warts with sharp apices to 2mm long. Flagellum to 1m long. Leaves, sparsely armed with claws, to 800mm long covered with whitish scales with claws beneath, leaflets to 350mm x 180mm, 5 per side. Spadix to 1m long with claws, male rachillae to 30mm long. Yellowish female spadix to 500mm with claws & floccose tomentum, rachillae to 80mm long. Beaked fruit to 25mm x 22mm with dull amber brown scales.
