Climber to 5m, stem sheaths with brown spines to 40mm long, 30 mm long at mouth. Leaf to 1.25m, about 35 leaflets each side, longest to 400mm x 20mm, bristly above. Inflorescences to 1.25m long with bracts to 400mm x 50mm with spines to 1mm. Female rachillae to 70mm long, male rachillae to 15mm long.
