Solitary climbing rattan palm, with scandent or decumbent stems to 20m, adventitious roots. Stem sheaths armed with spines to 50mm long. 50mm diameter leaf sheaths armed with triangular spines to 100mm long. Flagellum to 2m long. Leaves to 3.5m with 10mm long spines & 3-forked claws beneath, brownish indumentum above, leaflets to 400mm x 15mm, up to 100 per side. Clawed ferrugineous spadix to 5m+ long. Beaked fruit to 22mm x 16mm with brown scales.
