Climbing palm to 10m. Stem sheaths covered in black-tipped spines to 30mm long. Leaf to 2m includiong cirrus to 750mm, up to 15 leaflets per side, biggest 500mm x 20mm. Inflorescences to 500mm long with bracts to 250mm x 50mm. Female inflorescence with branches to 100mm long. Mature fruit 20mm x 28mm with a short beak.
