Very large robust clustering rattan to 50m. Creamy yellow woody leaf sheaths densely armed with numerous broad spines to 70mm x 5mm. Leaves to 6m long including petiole & cirrus & densely armed with erect triangular spines to 30mm x 10mm, 30 pairs of bristly leaflets each side, leaflets to 400mm x 20mm. Infructescence to 700mm long armed with spines to 50mm long, fruit 8mm x 4mm covered with 14 rows of glossy yellowish scales.
