Climber to 2m. Leaf sheaths with spines to 10mm long. Leaves to 2m longwith 4-5 leaflets per side, leaflets to 230m x 35mm with spiny margins. Inflorescence 1m long with bracts with recurved spines, rachillae to 10mm long with bracts 1mm long. Staminate flowers 2mm long with calyx to 1.5mm long & corolla 2mm long. Pistillate inflorescences with rachillae to 25mm long with bracts to 2.5mm long with 20 flowers per rachilla, sepals 3mm long, petals 3mm long. Yellowish fruit 10mm diameter.
