Climbing palm to 50m. Leaf to 950mm long, leaf sheath armed with spines to 10mm x 3.5mm, 2-15 leaflets per side, longest 380mm x 45mm. Staminate inflorescence to 3m long with flagelliform tip to 720mm long, rachillae to 45mm x 1.5mm with bracts to 2mm x 1.5mm. Pistillate inflorescence similar with flagelliform tip to 190mm long, rachillae to 200mm x 3mm with bracts to 3mm x 2.5mm, flowers to 4mm x 2.5mm, calyx to 2.5mm, lobes to 1.5mm x 2mm, petals to 3mm x 1mm. Fruit 11.5mm x 11.5mm including beak of 1.5mm x 1.5mm.
