Clustering climbing rattan palm, semi-scandent stems to 6m mostly ferrugineous. Leaf sheaths to 35mm diameter armed with spines to 80mm long, clawed leaves to 4.5m with cirrus 1.25m, 30-60 leaflets per side, bristly leaflets to 500mm x 60mm. Unarmed female spadix to 1m long sometimes with lateral spines, female flowers 7mm long, male flowers to 5mm long. Beaked fruit to 25mm x 15mm with reddish scales.
