Clustering climbing rattan palm, scandent stems to 20m+ with sheaths 60mm across. Woody leaf sheaths with spines, leaves to 5m long armed with hooked spines, cirrus to 2m, 40 leaflets each side, bristly leaflets to 500mm x 30mm with spiny margins. Inflorescence with bracts to 250mm x 65mm. Axillary female spadix to 1m long, female flowers to 6mm long, male flowers 5mm long. Abruptly beaked fruit to 18mm x 12mm.
