Climbing palm to 40m+. Leaf to 2.5m, leaf sheaths with spines to 60mm long. Up to 50 spiny leaflets per side, to 650mm x 40mm. Male inflorescence to 6m long with claws & bracts to 1.2m long, rachillae to 300mm long. Female rachillae to 250mm long. Short-beaked fruit to 20mm x 12mm.
