Climbing palm. Leaf sheaths armed with horizontal spines. Leaves to 700mm long, leaflets to 260mm x 30mm with spiny margins. Male spadix armed with spines & hooked prickles, spathe to 250mm long, spiklets to 90mm long with 20-22 flowers per side, male flowers 5mm long.
