Clustering scandent rattan to 6m. Leaf sheaths covered with black spines to 30mm long at base. Armed leaves to 3m long with scattered spines to 4mm long & occasional solitary spines to 15mm long, armed cirrus to 1.5m long armed with grapnel spines. Bristly leaflets to 30 per side, to 310m x 25mm. Pendulous armed inflorescence to 350mm long with leathery bracts to 170mm x 30mm covered in rusty indumentum & armed with scattered spines. Fruits 25mm x 10mm covered in 9 vertical rows of scales encrusted with reddish-brown dragon's blood.
