Slender clustering rattan climbing palm with scandent stems to 10m. Rusty furfuraceous leaf sheaths densely armed with spines to 30mm long. Leaves to 750mm long armed with claws, with up to 500mm long cirrus, leaflets to 350mm x 40mm with bristly tip. Unarmed male spadix to 700mm long, male flowers to 5mm long. Female spadix to 1.5m armed at base & terminal appendix, flowers with yellow corolla to 4mm long,. Beaked fruit 15mm x 8mm with straw-coloured scales with brown margins.
