Climbing palm to 15m long. Sheaths armed with black spines to 60mm long. Leaves to 4m long armed with lateral spines, leaflets to 80 per side armed with black bristles. Inflorescences to 1m long with armed bracts to 80mm long. Fruit to 20mm x 18mm, developing in net-like bracts, bright green with brown scale margins.
