Climbing palm with spines. Pinnate leaves 550mm x 80mm, climbing with hooks on inderside of leaf, leaflets to 600mm x 80mm. Male spiny glabrous spadix to 2m, male flower 10mm x 3mm, calyx to 5mm with 3 lobes, corolla twice size of calyx. Female spadix with spikelets to 150mm long.
