Spiny climbing palm to 12m. Leaves to 400mm with segments 280mm x 25mm, Male spadix to 1.5m with spiny spathes, male flower 4mm long with black-brown 3-lobed calyx to 2mm x 1.5mm & black-brown 3-lobed corolla 4mm long. Female spadix to 350mm long with flower 2.5mm long, Fruit 10mm.
