Climbing clustering rattan palm, scandent stems to 20m. Leaf sheath with triangular spines to 20mm long, leaves to 2m long with black-tipped claws, leaflets to 450mm x 18mm with bristles. Female spadix to 3m with primary spathes to 60mm long. Male spadix with shorter secondary spathes. Mucronate fruit to 20mm diameter with pale yellow scales. Male spadix with shorter secondary spathes
