Climbing robust clustering rattan to 30m. Stem sheaths to 25mm diameter, spiny leaves to 1.3m, sometimes with white hairs. 10-16 pairs of leaflets. Mid-leaflets to 330mm x 42mm, apical leaflets to 150mm x 30mm. Spiny staminate inflorescence to 2.2m with bracts to 1mm x 1.2mm, bracteoles to 1.5mm x 1.3mm. Staminate flowers to 4.2mm x 2.6mm with calyx 2.6mm diameter & 3 lobes 2mm x 0.6mm, corolla 3.8mm x 4mm. Pistillate inflorescence similar, to 1.6m long with spiny bracts to 90mm x 2mm & bracteoles to 2.5mm diameter. Beaked fruit to 13mm x 13mm with beak to 1mm x 1mm.
