Climbing palm to 3m. Leaf sheaths armed with spines to 40mm x 3mm, mouth with spines to 120mm x 4mm, lreaf to 2.5m long with cirrus to 400mm long, about 60 leaflets per side, longest to 350mm x 24mm armed with marginal teeth & bristles. Inflorescences to 700mm long with armed bracts, spines to 25mm & a few papery spines to 6mm at tip. Male rachilla to 4mm, female rachilla to 25mm x 2mm. Fruit to 10mm diameter.
